60 year-old food

The Queen celebrates her Diamond Jubilee today so we thought we’d take a look at what food was like in 1952.
Rationing was still in place with sugar, eggs, cheese and meat in short supply. But in the week following King George VI’s death, price controls on semolina, cocoa, drinking chocolate and flour confectionery were lifted.
While rationing was in force, manufacturers could only produce specific sized products and once it ended, Cadbury’s decided it was the perfect opportunity to launch new sized products and to redesign their packaging. The now iconic purple and gold design was created and ‘Cadbury’s’ was written on all packaging in a standard script based on William Cadbury’s signature.
With the food industry still evolving, what do you think it will be like 60 years from now?
Here’s some thoughts from the team:
Meals and snacks in tablet form
Meals delivered to your door for controlled food and drink consumption
More processed food
Smaller portions
Fewer food stores – instead everything will be bought online
